My five year old daughter convinced me to pull out my keepsakes so she could see what sort of clothes she could use for dress up. She found my wedding veil (circa 1998) and I thought, “Why not?”

Today I woke up to beautiful sunny skies. It’s my slow season shooting-wise and so I was facing a free Saturday with nothing planned. What a treat! I grabbed my camera and made my one mile trek downtown. Incidentally, winter is probably my least favorite time of year, especially after the holidays have come and gone and the official countdown to spring has begun, so it’s difficult for me to feel inspired by my environment when most everything is dull with moisture, melting snow, and dead leaves. But there’s beauty in it, even if it’s not the conventional sort.

(Sorry, I couldn’t resist an alliterative title.)

Anna and Sean Wed | Yakima Valley Wedding Photography

Anna and Sean tied the knot last month in the gorgeous Yakima Valley. Sean is the winemaker for Gilbert Cellars and I was lucky to get to capture their getting ready shots (with their puppy aptly named Syrah) at their home which is in the middle of acres and acres of vineyards. The wedding was held at the cutest church situated atop a hill overlooking the valley. And the reception was held at Sean’s parent’s lovely home, which was surrounded by apple orchards. This wedding was such an incredibly visual slice of Eastern WA and I loved how Sean and Anna incorporated the wine, the apples, and the lavender into their wedding day. This event was perfectly simple and elegant, just like Anna and Sean.

Grab a glass of wine–this one is a doozy!

Kristina and Kevin had a wonderful, intimate Monday wedding in Walla Walla. These two hail from Anchorage, Alaska and came to Walla Wallla for a destination winery wedding. Kristina is an engineer who builds oil rigs–so cool! And Kevin is a fire inspector who gets to go crack down on fire scenes. Not knowing many folks from Alaska, they left me wondering if everyone in that state holds a bad-ass job?

These two were so sweet and I wish they lived closer so we could hang out and drink wine and talk about fires and oil rigs and other similarly cool things.Their wedding ceremony was held at the gorgeous St. Patrick’s Catholic church in Walla Walla. Their reception was held at Castillo de Feliciana off of Stateline Rd between Walla Walla and our neighbor not far to the south, Milton-Frewater, OR.

Erin and Matt were married on a hot July evening at Matt’s parent’s home in Kennewick. The crowd that gathered to celebrate was incredibly fun and laid-back. And, they knew how to boogie. I had a difficult time narrowing down images for a blog post, so I’m throwing up some of my favorites.
