Sarah and Derek are one of my favorite couples I’ve shot. Their wedding was in 2010 and they just welcomed their first baby. It was an honor to spend the morning with them and their wee one.

And squeezing in some travel.

And, of course, gearing up for wedding season.

I know it’s a bit late to talk about goals, at least in reference to the new year, but April for me is sort of the start of a new year in terms of running a seasonal business like wedding photography. For this year, I really hope to be better about blogging. This social media thing doesn’t come naturally to me like taking photos does. I’m uncomfortable with it, worried that self-promotion might be read as narcissism; that I might write something personal in my blog and that people, clients especially, might infer things about me through my blog that I don’t want them to (which is rather ridiculous because I live a very simple, undramatic life, but still); that my privacy, or my kids’ privacy, might somehow be compromised. Those kinds of worries plague me and I’ve struggled with these concerns since I started my business five years ago. But that’s no excuse. I am challenging myself to share and write in a creative way that can somehow circumvent these concerns so that I can have a genuine, creative place on the web to share this craft I love so much.

Hold me to it, will you?

In January I photographed Meg and Dan’s elopement at Bennington Lake outside of Walla Walla. The found me online and after a phone call or two they decided to move forward with having me share this afternoon with them. It was one of the sweetest weddings I’ve had the honor of witnessing. Meg and Dan are expecting their first baby in late spring so we made sure to capture a few shots of her baby bump. I love looking at these images and watching the progession of the weather and the light as we wove our way through the January afternoon.

I was witness to a beautiful wedding today. What an honor.

Shayna Lynn and James are sweet and adorable. I’m looking forward to their Cave B wedding in May!

I processed these photos with the new Visual Supply Company Lightroom presets. They’re great–I’m able to use them and get great results with little tweaking.

Lauren and Luke were married in Walla Walla a few weeks ago. She’s American. He’s British. They’re both adorable. More soon!
